Digumarti Foundation Oration at I-OSICON 2025

Dr. Padmanee Sharma delivered the Digumarti Foundation oration at the 6th annual conference of the Immuno-Oncology Society of India, held at Bhuvaneshvar.

Dr. Sharma’s work emphases on obtaining patients’ tumor samples for in-depth laboratory studies. She spoke about why bringing data from the clinic to the lab is important to understand pathways within the immune system that facilitate tumor rejection or elicit resistance to immune checkpoint therapy.

Dr. Sharma is a Professor of Genitourinary Medical Oncology and Immunology in the Division of Cancer Medicine, Associate VP of Immunobiology and the T.C. and Jeanette D. Hsu Endowed Chair in Cell Biology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is also the inaugural Scientific Director for the Immunotherapy Platform and the Director of Scientific Programs for the James P. Allison Institute at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
